Spanning 62 weeks, this diploma program offers a blend of live, instructor-led classes featuring limited student numbers for individualized learning combined with hands-on skill development. An 8-week, 200-hour practicum places you in authentic community settings such as social service organizations, mental health facilities, shelters, and non-profit establishments.
Our alumni have successfully secured positions at prominent organizations including Youth Action Centre, Family Lifeline Counseling, VON Canada, Council on Drug Abuse (CODA), and Pioneer Youth Services.
Upon graduating, pursue opportunities as a Support Specialist, Residential Care Provider, Outreach Coordinator, Peer Support Specialist, Shelter Advisor, and Well-Being Coordinator within community organizations, mental health facilities, shelters, and social service establishments.

This program extends beyond general community services to deliver specialized instruction in mental health and addictions. Examine diagnostic frameworks for mental health conditions, recovery-oriented program development, co-occurring disorders, and trauma-informed approaches. Develop proficiency in supporting individuals experiencing intersectional stigma while implementing evidence-driven practices across varied mental health and addiction environments.
The Police Foundations program provides imperative firearms safety training.
As a Police Foundations graduate, you will qualify for positions such as: Ontario Police Services (municipal and provincial), Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Out-of-Province Police Services, By-Law Enforcement, Campus Police, Security (special events, industrial & commercial, residential, retail, casino, etc.), Correctional Service, Conservation Officers and Park Wardens, Civil Enforcement (Bailiffs, Process Servers, etc.), the Canada Border Services, and Court Services.
Did you know that the policing community will experience the largest recruitment effort over the next few years because of retirement trends and an increase in the number of positions to be filled? If you’re interested in joining the legal field, and more specifically the police force, then the Police Foundations program will help you launch your new career in the industry.
You will take a diverse set of courses to prepare you for the policing workforce. You will learn how to interview and interrogate, understand courtroom procedures and testimonies, recognize police powers and authority, and implement fitness into your daily lifestyle. This program ensures that you’re familiar with the Canadian Charter and Criminal Code, criminal justice in Canada, CPR and first aid, and policies on national security.
The program combines practical, theoretical and substantive knowledge in a way that is relevant to police-related work settings.

This program includes the potential for PREP (Physical Readiness Evaluation for Police) fitness testing/certification. You are strongly encouraged to obtain PREP certification after graduation. The fee for fitness testing/certification is the responsibility of the student.
