Truck and Transport Mechanic
The Truck and Transport Mechanic (TTM) apprenticeship program (formerly Commercial Transport) requires time spent on the job and in-school training. A Truck and Transport Mechanic trainee must complete a four-year program including workplace and in-school hours of training as follows:
- Technical Training: 4 levels, 840 hours
- Registration in the following levels of training at BCIT:
- Level 1, 2, 3 Heavy Mechanical Trades (HMT)
- Level 4 Truck and Transport Mechanic (TTM)
- Work based training: 6,360 hours
The program
Students work on mechanical and electronic components of vehicles. This includes most vehicle systems such as fuel, brake, steering and suspension systems, transmission, emission control and exhaust systems, engines, and electrical, cooling and air conditioning and refrigeration. - Diesel Engine Mechanic (DEM): Levels 1, 2
- Transport Trailer Technician (TTT): Level 1
