Applied Web Development

Applied Web Development, AWD is a subset of the CST/PTS Diploma. AWD may be completed in just over two years, part-time, one course at a time. Most courses are available nights, some on weekends, and others with fast track options. Starting with COMP 1850 students learn the best practices and tools used to design and hand-code web pages and web sites. They also learn to model business processes and communicate requirements before proceeding with design and development. As part of this program, students are required to work in groups to apply skills in requirements discovery  They must also document a business case and provide a detailed plan for a web-based IT solution. Core courses provide a solid understanding of web page design, data modelling, planning, documentation and a variety of scripting tools with an emphasis on HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, data modelling, database, web application development, business analysis and IT systems design. Elective choices include: UX/UI, IT Project Management, Android and Mobile Applications, Angular and Vue, Node.js, React and Modern JavaScript, plus advanced web application development. AWD graduates will be able to design, develop, deploy and manage websites to industry standards.
