The Automotive Technology (pre-apprenticeship) diploma program will prepare you for your career in automotive service and repair. The Automotive Technology program is a blend of theory and practice with an emphasis on practical hands-on learning delivered in our 2000 square foot on-site workshop. Students will learn the terminology and application of automotive mechanic tools, the operational theory, principles and functions of all automotive engineering systems and the importance of compliance with the industry health and safety regulations. As well, students will gain an understanding of the importance of providing excellent customer service; communicating effectively and the routine tasks involved in the daily operation of an automotive service technician business.
Articulation – Credit Transfer
Graduates of the SCBT Automotive Technology program may articulate to Canadore College of Applied Arts & Technology and receive a credit transfer of 39 credits towards the completion of the Canadore College 1.5 year Motive Power Technician Ontario College Diploma Program. (Articulating students must meet the admission requirements of Canadore College)
Diploma to Degree Pathway
Graduates of the Canadore College 1.5 year Motive Power Technician may be eligible for advanced standing/exemptions for credit transfer to University.
