Now more than ever, the world needs good journalists. Today’s journalists must combine strong writing with technical savvy and production expertise. Through this program, you’ll be guided by industry professionals to understand and explore the rapidly-changing world of journalism and story-telling. Hone your writing, interviewing, performance, and production skills to start on the path to a rewarding career in journalism. By choosing the pace of your own study through part-time studies, you can select the courses and timing that are right for you, with our mix of required and elective courses.

Who should complete the Journalism Associate Certificate?

This program could be right for you if:

What grads can do

By earning your Associate Certificate, you’ll be honing your writing, story-telling and production skills to prepare for a variety of entry-level positions in journalism. You’ll be able to apply your writing skills and understanding of compelling story structure to a wide variety of opportunities in the world of media and communication. You may also wish to work as a freelance journalist, writer, or blogger to have your stories heard, or to enhance your own small business, personal project, or current job.
