Education Assistant

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

This program has been reviewed and approved by PTIB. This diploma program focuses on preparing graduates for a career as an Education Assistant. This program provides graduates with a solid theoretical and practical skillbased foundation enabling them to assist students who have been identified as having exceptional educational needs and/or having developmental disabilities. As a team member you will provide behavioral support, learning assistance, personal care while facilitating inclusion, open communication and social interaction.

  • 31 weeks (Including Practicum length)
  • 25 Hours per Week

Work Experience

  • Total 6 weeks
  • 160 hours

Delivery Method

  • Blended Delivery: the program delivery is a combination of on-site and distance delivery.

Admission Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent or
  • Mature student status (British Columbia 19 years or older)
  • Meet the College’s English proficiency requirements

Credential Upon Graduation

  • Education Assistant Diploma
