Employment Opportunities

This program is for people who want to work in entry level positions in Trades. Some examples of jobs: baker’s helper, furnace cleaning helper, mechanic’s helper, plumber’s helper, salon helpers, painter assistant, electrician helper and welder’s helper.

Entry Requirements

CLB 4-6 (CLB levels and Mathematical requirements depend on career of interest). This is an excellent program for those who have completed ESL and/or have reached satisfactory levels of LINC study.

Program Description

  • 16 or 32 weeks
  • Get Academic Upgrading in Essential Skills English, Math, and Computers.
  • Study occupation specific modules to prepare for work experience
  • Get training in:
    • Occupation Specific Vocabulary
    • Workplace language, Culture and Communications
    • Customer Service
    • Work Strategies
  • Work experience placement – up to 6 weeks
  • Job placement support from an Employment Specialist/Job Coach.
  • Certificates in:
    • Standard First Aid
    • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
