This program is offered at the Toronto and Cambridge campus.
Gas Appliance Service Technicians can service and repair gas-fired residential and commercial appliances. They work with appliances such as dryers, furnaces, stoves, air-conditioning units and fireplaces. They may diagnose problems and use specialized tools to determine issues. They can provide estimates, assist customers with questions about the appliances and prepare work orders. Students may go on to become self-employed or work for residential or commercial repair companies.
The Gas Technician 3 program is the starting point for technicians in the gas field. If a technician has little or no prior experience in the gas industry, this program is the best place to begin. The curriculum is designed by TSSA under the Technical Standards and Safety Act (TSSA). Faculty members are certified Gas Technicians, Electricians, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanics and Sheet metal workers who have working experience in the HVAC industry in Canada. Graduates of this program are eligible to write the TSSA Gas Technician Certification Examination.
