GERONTOLOGY CERTIFICATE

Entrance Requirements: Post-Secondary degree or diploma OR relevant experience Currently, for the first time ever, seniors make up a larger share of Canada’s population than children. In fact, since 2011, the fastest growing population is Centenarians and Statistics Canada projects that by 2031, almost 1 in 4 Canadians will be over the age of 65. The Gerontology online training certificate will offer students a knowledge base in order to be able to offer holistic support and care to Canada’s aging population. The certificate will explore the aging process and how it can impact mental health. Other areas of exploration will include, ethical and legal issues, health promotion and exploration of current issues and trends.

Who Should Take the Course?

The Gerontology certificate is designed to provide specialized training for those working in related fields such as healthcare, law enforcement, education and social services. Anyone that works with seniors will benefit from this training.
