The Hairstyling diploma program provides students with comprehensive training in cutting, coloring, barbering, and styling techniques within an accelerated program delivered in under one year. Students develop competencies through hands-on learning in an authentic salon environment, working with real clients under instructor supervision at Modern College's clinic floor open five days per week, significantly more than typical community colleges. The program includes barbering modules covering clippers, scissors, men's cuts, fades, beard and moustache shaping, and facial grooming, preparing graduates for diverse career opportunities across Northern Ontario's beauty industry.
Entry-level roles: Graduates work as Hairstylists, Barbers, Men's Grooming Specialists, Salon Stylists, or begin freelance careers in salons, barbershops, spas, and beauty establishments across Northern Ontario at campuses in North Bay, Sudbury, and Barrie.
Advancement opportunities: With experience, graduates may progress to senior stylist positions, salon ownership, platform artist/educator roles, hair extension specialists, or specialized careers in film, television, fashion, and creative industry styling.
Industry demand: Ontario's beauty industry maintains consistent demand for skilled hairstylists and barbers who can express creativity, build client relationships, stay current with trending techniques, and provide professional services across diverse salon and barbershop environments.
