Program Overview

This one-year diploma credential prepares students for front-line operational roles within hotels, restaurants, tourism businesses, and event venues through balanced theoretical instruction (560 hours) and supervised industry practicum (480 hours). Delivered conveniently through weekend scheduling across 55 weeks, the curriculum develops foundational competencies in guest services, property management systems, and food and beverage operations essential for hospitality sector employment.

Core Competencies

Students develop proficiency in front office operations management, housekeeping service delivery, food and beverage service protocols, OPERA property management system operation, POS system utilization for food service, hospitality industry supervision fundamentals, hotel and restaurant accounting basics, sales and marketing principles, and comprehensive guest relations techniques spanning hotels, restaurants, catering operations, membership clubs, tourist services, and event coordination environments.

Career Pathways

Entry-level positions: Hotel Front Office Clerk, Hotel Receptionist, Food and Beverage Server, Housekeeper roles in hotels, restaurants, resorts, gambling establishments, bars, catering companies, hostels, visitor attractions. Professional advancement: Progression toward supervisory positions or specialization in specific hospitality departments with further training. Industry demand: Ontario's expanding tourism sector maintains consistent hiring for qualified service professionals with 90% graduate employment rate and compensation ranging $16-$25/hour.
