Integrated Palliative Care Courses For PSWs

These courses will guide Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to a better understanding of how to apply principles of palliative and end-of-life care to clients and their families experiencing life-threatening illness with an integrative approach, from diagnosis to the last hours of life and through to death, grief and bereavement. The student will learn how to provide care that is culturally relevant and honours the choices, traditions, and values of the dying person and their family. The course is appropriate for PSWs or Unregulated care providers (UCPs) practicing in community, homecare, long-term care homes, retirement homes, hospices and other community settings. The course will be provided through ten (10), three (3) hour classes, delivered in-person, with an integrative lab component for hands-on learning. Total course length is twenty-four (24) hours of theory with six (6) hours of lab.
