Program Overview

The Robertson College Calgary Medical Office Assistant diploma program will help you to develop key proficiencies as a Medical Office Assistant in a wide variety of areas ranging from medical terminology to clinical office procedures.

  • Be introduced to medical office procedures.  You will study computer software applications used in medical office settings, office administration, patient relations and basic office accounting
  • Develop your communication and customer service skills to be able to meet various patient needs in a dynamic medical office setting
  • Learn medical terminology used in the medical field and anatomy and physiology basics in order to understand the structure, purpose and function of the various body systems
  • Learn about the various clinical procedures performed in a medical office including procedures regarding infection control, sanitation, and sterilization
  • Develop the Medial Transcription skills necessary to produce accurate medical reports from recorded dictation
  • Earn your CPR certification
  • Learn proper typing techniques and improve your keyboarding accuracy
  • Learn to use Microsoft Windows applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
