Network administrators are responsible for the day-to-day IT support in an organization. Unlike Network Engineers, who focus more on high-level design and planning, Network Administrators focus more on the daily maintenance to ensure all systems in the company are running smoothly and data is not lost. As with many technical roles, network administrator positions require a breadth of technical knowledge and the ability to learn the intricacies of new networking and server software packages quickly. Organizations of all kinds need trained IT professionals to maintain, test, and troubleshoot their computer networks. Individuals who hold diplomas in Network Administration possess a thorough understanding of servers, networks, and related software. They work directly for companies as part of an in-house IT team, or through third party network technology providers.
