Office Administration – Legal

Program Description

Get a practical education to become a legal assistant or legal administrative assistant with Legal Office Administration program, which provides you with the essential knowledge and skills you’ll need to do the job well. You will learn the theory and procedures associated with real estate, litigation and corporate law. As well, you will get the opportunity to work in a simulated legal environment, where you will use specialized legal application software, draft and prepare legal documents, handle client’s files and manage deadline/time limitations.

Career Opportunities

At the end of this office administrator program, you could be ready to launch your career as a legal secretary, legal administrative assistant or receptionist in a wide range of law office environments. Major employers include small to large law firms and government and corporate legal departments.

Placement

As a mandatory component of our programs, all students are required to complete an off-site externship placement. Placements occur at various business locations throughout the communities. This essential module allows students to exercise the skills learned in class, learn specific applications and to further enhance their learning experience in the selected facilities.

Admission Requirements

Standard Admission for the LOA

  • Students must meet ALL of the following criteria
    • Have an Ontario secondary School Diploma or equivalent
    • Provide completed current immunization report
    • Provide Criminal Record Check
    • Must pass Standard Entrance Examination.

Mature Admission

  • Students must meet ALL of the following criteria
    • Provide completed current immunization report
    • Provide Criminal Record Check
    • Be at least 18 years of age and pass a Superintendent approved qualifying test
    • Must pass Standard Entrance Examination.
