If you’re analytical, organized and adept at research then consider becoming a Paralegal. You’ll be an integral part of a law firm and may even run your own practice (within the limit of the Small Claims Court) once you become licensed!

If you’re passionate about justice and looking for a steady and rewarding career, a career as a Paralegal might be right for you. Paralegals are at the center of making law firms run efficiently. Work as a provider of legal services in a law office, as a provincial offenses prosecutor, or within a corporate environment. As a Paralegal, you’re authorized to provide legal services in tribunal practice, residential landlord and tenant law, and civil litigation within the limit of the Small Claims Court. As a graduate of the Paralegal Diploma program, you’ll have the opportunity to become licensed by the Law Society of Upper Canada. This program qualifies you for admission to the Paralegal Licensing Process and prepares you for the LSUC Paralegal licensing examination.

You’ll also complete a school-supervised internship (practicum) so that you’ll graduate with confidence in your skills and abilities. CCBST is 100% responsible for finding a placement for you with an appropriate organization.

Career Opportunities

Paralegals can find employment in law firms, paralegal firms, immigration practices, corporate law departments, legal aid clinics, collection agencies, government departments and agencies, courts and tribunals. Once licensed, Paralegals are entitled to open a practice and handle matters for their own clients. Paralegals may work in various positions, such as:
