PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER

The objective of the Personal Support Worker Program is to train students and help them acquire the skills needed to care for individuals living in long-term care facilities and the community. Specific topics covered in this program will be:  Individuality  Role of the PSW  Interpersonal Skills  Safety  Assisting a person with mobility  Household Management  Meal Preparation  Care Planning  Assisting the Family  Mental Health Issues
 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

1. Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or Equivalent 2. Passing score on the NACC literacy evaluation 3. Current immunization record, including Hepatitis B 4. Vulnerable Sector Screening 5. Mature students status - 18 years of age or older and pass a pre-entry evaluation. Note - All foreign credentials must be translated into English and compared for Grade 12 equivalency by a recognized organization (i.e. WES)
