Pharmacy Assistant


 The Windsor College Pharmacy Assistant program is designed to prepare students for a rewarding career as a Pharmacy Assistant.

A combination of instructor-led training with a 8 weeks of field placement designed to prepare students for a successful career in healthcare.

The Pharmacy Assistant Diploma program also includes a field placement in a pharmaceutical setting. Work under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician and learn how to prepare, package, and store pharmaceuticals. Some of a pharmacy assistant's responsibilities include filling orders under a pharmacist's supervision, entering client information, identifying the correct mixture or breakdowns for prescriptions, and preparing and processing paperwork for orders.  Students also explore pharmacy computer systems software, hospital and community pharmacy practices and procedures, drug dosage calculations, and compounding labs. In addition, instructors with industry experience cover topics such as ethics, legislation, personal conduct, and workplace safety. PR and First Aid also included in this program

After successful completion of the program, a Diploma certified from Windsor Career College will be granted.

 This program is approved as a vocational program under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005.
